What is Revenue?
Revenue is all the money a company brings in from selling things, before paying any costs.
The simple explanation
Revenue is also called sales or the top line. It shows how big the business is and whether it is growing. Profit is what is left after costs, so a company can have high revenue and still lose money.
An example
A coffee chain that sells 1 billion dollars of coffee has 1 billion dollars of revenue, even if its profit is much smaller.
Why it matters
Growing revenue is one of the clearest signs a business is gaining customers.
